The Queensbury Hotel has signed on as a major sponsor of the 8th annual Cindy & Skeets Glens Falls Hospital Cancer Day Golf Tournament, to be held Friday, July 8, at the Glens Falls Country Club.

The tournament is the largest annual fundraiser for the hospital's C.R. Wood Cancer Center, and has raised a total of nearly $700,000 to fund support programs for cancer patients and their families over the past seven years.

Additional sponsorship opportunities are available by contacting Cristina Britton of the Glens Falls Hospital Foundation at (518) 926-5969 or cbritton@glensfallshosp.org.

"We are extremely grateful to The Queensbury for stepping up in support of area cancer patients and the hospital, and we encourage other businesses and organizations to join them," said Glens Falls Hospital Vice President of Development Cindy Sherwood.

Queensbury businessman and philanthropist Ed Moore, who purchased the iconic Downtown Glens Falls hotel earlier this year, said, "What a great opportunity to reconnect The Queensbury with our community in a truly meaningful way. In one day, this tournament raises money that will make a difference in people's lives for years to come."

Morning tee times can still be reserved at www.bireasepro.com/cindyandskeets. Registration includes a barbecue lunch. An awards reception and live auction will take place following the afternoon round of play.

The tournament honors the memories of the late Cindy Ginsburg and Ralph "Skeets" Woodbbury, two longtime and beloved members of the regional community who lived with cancer for many years and supported the Cancer Center in many ways. The hospital's first Cancer Day Golf Tournament was held in 1974 and was later named in honor of Mr. Woodbury, one of its founding organizers. In 2009, that tournament was merged with Cindy's Summer Classic, which was founded in honor of Ms. Ginsburg.

The C.R. Wood Cancer Center is a nationally accredited comprehensive community cancer center, offering advanced medical and radiation oncology; cancer prevention and early detection programs; and a wide variety of innovative education and support programs.
